Mona Lisa’s smile

This is the first movie that we watched for this semester. I had watched this movie before with subtitles. The movie carries for two hours which is very long for me. The lead actress is Julia Robert who act as Katherine Watson, an art teacher.
Yes. I like the movie because it motivates me to be a better teacher. The movie is quite entertaining. I would rate it as “so so”. Yes. There are moral values in the movie. The devotion of the teacher touches me. She did not give up although she was humiliated in the first day of her lesson. She continued to find a better way to teach the students. Besides that, her effort in instilling the students to look art from their own perspectives had inspired me. I feel that students today like to expect teachers or books to spoon feed them with knowledge. They never try to acquire knowledge with their own effort and therefore, most of the thoughts or knowledge that they get are belongs to the experts or professional people in the society.
Apart from that, the teacher’s spirit of fighting with the mindset of traditional society which stereotype women as housewives touches me too. She encourages her students to strive hard in order to achieve their dreams. I think the determination and devotion of the teacher in this movie inspires me to become a better teacher in my future teaching.
